Hurricane Dorian Recovery
On September 1, 2019 Category 5 Hurricane Dorian pummelled our northern islands of Grand Bahama and Abaco with sustained winds of 185 mph, and flattened entire communities. The Bahamas needs everyone’s help now more than ever as we recover from this storm and rebuild stronger in the face of our changing climate. Please make a donation below and choose “Helping where it is most needed”.
Your support will assist BREEF in our recovery work, including:
* Support displaced children and teachers, especially those in our Eco-Schools network, -driving a stronger, climate-resilient recovery.
* Plan for disaster risk reduction, including training in water safety, swimming lessons and preparedness.
* Assess, protect and restore our coral reef and mangrove ecosystems that are the first line of defence in safeguarding our islands from storms. These critical ecosystems have also been impacted by the storm and they need our help. (Learn more about BREEF’s coral reef restoration work here).
BREEF’s mission is to promote the conservation of the Bahamian marine environment that sustains our way of life. Thank you for your help.
