Teacher Training Workshop

Our summer Marine Conservation Teacher Training Workshop (TTW) has

become the flagship teacher education course for marine conservation

in the country.

Each year, BREEF invites K-12 teachers from across our islands

to participate in a residential, field-study course at

the Gerace Research Center.

This week-long, interdisciplinary course places emphasis on modeling

experiential learning to increase student achievement

and promoting sustainable development through education.

Workshop sessions include classroom lectures,

engaging hands-on activities,

and outdoor field studies.

Teachers are also provided with take-home

multimedia educational resources

to enhance the learning experience for their students.

Educators are selected across the range of public and private,

primary and secondary schools, with preference given to those

whose content areas include topics in

marine conservation, fisheries, and sustainable development.

Mission accomplished!

At least one BREEF-trained teacher in every school across the country.
